Our People
The gathered congregation of Redemption Church includes people from all backgrounds and in all stages of life, from single young adults to the newly married, from young families to middle age and seasoned saints. Regardless of your age or demographic, we want to help you connect to meaningful relationships with our church family. Given our wide diversity of ages and tastes, on any given Sunday morning, you’ll find anything from jeans and sweatshirts to tucked-in shirts and ties.
Our Music
As those who have come to know God’s forgiveness, we love to sing his praises. Together as a church, we want to give glory to God for the grace he has given us through Jesus Christ. We do this every Sunday morning through a blend of old hymns and contemporary songs, all declaring the truth of who God is and what he has done for us. While we have various musicians and vocalists assisting us each week, our music’s main “instrument” is the congregation, as we lift our collective voices together in worship to God.
Our Preaching
We believe that God speaks today through his Word, and each Sunday, we anticipate hearing from him. Therefore, the “main event” of our Sunday Gathering is the preaching of God’s Word. However, rather than simply hearing the preacher’s ideas on a topic, he will open up the Bible and help us to understand its relevance for our lives. If you live in Portland and you don’t have a Bible, we are happy to provide one for you. We hope that in hearing God’s Word and receiving it by faith, you will encounter God himself in all of his glory and goodness.
Our Children
During our Weekly Gathering each Sunday, Children’s Ministry classes are also provided for our kids, toddlers through First Grade. We prioritize security and safety, and all our childcare volunteers and teachers are trained and screened with background checks. Parents are welcome to check in their children for classes at the Children's Desk.
Our Ordinances
On the first Sunday of every month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, and at regular times throughout the year, we celebrate baptism, both at the conclusion of our Weekly Gathering. By partaking in the bread and the cup, we remember how our Lord gave his body and blood for our salvation and united us into one body. Likewise (as we have the opportunity), we also occasionally celebrate the ordinance of baptism at the conclusion of our service. As baptized believers who profess our shared faith, we observe this wonderful picture of Christ’s union with Christians, as we are symbolically buried with him in death and raised with him to new life.
Stay & Get to Know Us
After the Weekly Gathering at Redemption Church, we hope you will stick around and give us a chance to get to know you. Our members enjoy staying after the service to connect with visitors and catch up with friends, so feel free to introduce yourself to someone around you. From time to time, we have lunch and potlucks, which all visitors are welcome to attend. If you want to learn more about the church, please talk to our pastor after the service. He looks forward to meeting you whenever you visit.
